The world needs more funny poems.
I think as writers we tend to discount the funny, downplay it. At least I do. As if being humorous or sarcastic renders the poems, well, weak. The real issues of life are not amusing, so the best poems and the serious writers will be writing about death, love, mortality. Not usually fodder for giggles.
The idea of writing a funny poem scares the crap out of me. Sure, I can do bitter and ironic, but funny? That remains to be seen.
My idea for the Jam this week is for us to write poems that involve humor. This could easily include sarcasm and irony, so cut loose! Summer should leave us chuckling, not mourning shorter days and coming storms!
Y'all know how to do this, write, post to blog and then enter it into the Mr. Linky. Read others if you can!
This is my first time posting for the Jam! Hope I didn't mess it up too badly. I also try to hook up with the Jam as much as I can, but if you'd like to read more of me...
(I still haven't written my contribution. How funny is that?)
Hope my Linky worked.
