So Much Depends Upon.....
There is a pretty famous poem by William Carlos Williams ("The Red Wheel Barrow") that begins with a simple stanza, "So much depends/upon".
I think these words open up to many possibilities, so many directions you can take using these words as a jumping off point.
So play with these words, see where they take you and I look forward to what you will write. Post your efforts on your blog and link below with Mr. Linky. And do visit the poems of others who share. Remember, you can return many times during the week to find additional poems.

Wow, this prompt fit in perfectly with the poem I was trying to write tonight. I love it when a prompt opens the creative doorway to let the muse do her job properly!
ReplyDeleteNice prompt, Peggy! I will be around to visit this week!
ReplyDeleteI went a different way with the photo (didn't actually see it until now), but I just couldn't get rid of the 'so much depends' chant this prompt started, so I hope you can forgive me using a different illustration? I will be back here more often!!! *smile*
ReplyDeleteI haven't written for the Jam in a while (writer's inertia, mostly), but this prompt grabbed me. I'll post it tonight. Thanks Peggy!

This looks like a great challenge... I am taking about a week's blogger break and if I get back before the next challenge, I will participate. Thanks for hosting Poetry Jam.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! I wish I were there!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see so many of your here posting! I have loved reading all the poems posted so far. So many different takes on the prompt. I finally just posted my own effort. I had such a hard time with this one!! LOL My own fault!! I found it hard knowing the poem the prompt came from and admiring the simple beauty of that poem and wanting to live up to it--instead of just going with the prompt. Oh well. Great to see all your blogs.
ReplyDeleteI just posted finally - been having trouble keeping up because of work craziness and minor illnesses, but please bear with me. I want to be part of this group. Also, if those stupid encription codes show up on my blog please tell me in eamail or somehow (seastarvsh@aol.com) I don't want them there. I'm babysitting today - plan to read and comment on poems here this evening.
