Personal Challenge
We all struggle with things about ourselves or inside ourselves. Perhaps it is height or a health problem, a hot temper, a learning disorder, depression, loneliness, difficulty understanding other people, overwhelming grief or some kind of weakness. For this week's challenge I want you to write about this kind of personal challenge.
Write not about something in the environment around you or in your circumstances like lack of money or a parent who mistreated you, but about something about yourself that you have struggled with.
You might talk about what this struggle feels like, where it has taken you, how you have overcome it or how you still face it every day.
It can be something serious of course or something lighter, perhaps a small challenge you faced as a kid, like waiting to open your holiday presents or your anxiety about the first day of school.
I look forward to getting to know you a bit better through this challenge. Post your poem with Mr. Linky and then read what others have written.

ReplyDeleteWhen I thought about my challenges a little more for this poem I realized the real struggle was something different than one might first think.
ReplyDeleteok, so i broke your rules a little peggy because money does tie into my issues or frustrations but its real so maybe you will forgive me...smiles.
ReplyDeleteGreat prompt Peggy! Loved this one :)
ReplyDeleteA very interesting prompt but I hesitate on the personal side of blogging about my real life ~ I don't know if I will post my thoughts about this but wanted to let you know this is a terrific idea ~
ReplyDeleteNice prompt...linked mine. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prompt! No time to post my haiku on my blog, so here it is:
ReplyDeleteMusical career
cut short by two injuries,
and so I write.
I am so sorry to hear about the injuries. Blessed though, by your writing.
DeleteSad about the injuries..but glad another door opened.
Deletesad but hey when one door closes another one opened...and you have certainly been recognized in the poetry community
DeleteThank you for posting this even though you did not get to your blog. Sorry you had to give up a promising musical career. A musical career has always sounded like a difficult one to me. Glad you write though!
DeleteGreat prompt, Peggy! Will be back around later to see what everyone else has come up with for this one (and so thankful to have my internet issues resolved!)

ReplyDeleteOh I meant that last comment to be directed to Madeline. I will try to redirect it. But to all of you thank you for taking on this challenge. I know many people are hesitant to write personal things on their blogs and I am esp glad some of you were willing to do so. I found it a challenge challenge even for myself but it did make me think and thinking is really what prompts are all about for me. Thank you all for participating here!
ReplyDeletetook most of the night, but i got something written, Peggy. i'll be back asap to visit others. thanks!
