are you a person who does things by the book?
or do you throw the rules out the window?
this week, i'd like you to break a few rules
or at least bend them
here's how it'll work ~
write a form poem breaking some or all of its rules -
ie: write a haiku with ten syllables in each line
or write a ten line etheree with no regard to syllables
{find out more about poetry forms HERE HERE or HERE }
write a real or fictional account of the consequences of breaking rules
write a real or fictional piece about how much fun it is to break the rules or what rules you wish you could ignore
write about the rules in a fictional town/country/world and what effect they have on people's lives
write a poem about a rebel
just break some rules!!!
Please

Enjoyed this prompt. Looking forward to reading the results.
ReplyDeleteAs completely unlike me it is to break rules, I have made an exception here, and written in the voice of a gal who just can't help herself from doing things her own way. Me, I'm a straight arrow, and she frankly shocks me. Right, Sista Poet Dani? ;-)
ReplyDeleteA little tardy in linking to this, for which apologies. Excellent prompt, almost tempted to write another for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteReally good prompt and i enjoyed playing with this one. Thank You. Alan
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful responses so far! I am really enjoying what you have written! Keep them coming.
ReplyDelete...mine's about some Japanese culture as i dig to the art of love & forgetting... 'twas originally written in a sonnet form and after several revisions, cuttings, and additions it is now offered in free verse in a bit of prose-like format... hope you like it....smiles...
ReplyDeletep.s...thanks Dani!!!(:
Hi! This is a second submission. I can't see a prohibition anywhere - hope I'm not breaking the rules!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how hard.I'm finding this, probably something to do with the fact that I like rules :) perhaps that's somewhere to start
ReplyDeleteThank you! This was a joy to revisit some old photos of mine!
ReplyDeleteHi Dani! Took me awhile, which rule breaking moment to share :-) maybe a collage of events and hmm maybe the statute of limitations hasn't run, yet...then remembered my first real rule breaker--perfect! Thank you for the trip back to where my bad self got her start lol!!
ReplyDeleteThis was a bit of fun daydreaming by the window yesterday, taking form today, and winging your way ...
ReplyDeleteNot sure this is what you wanted but it is what came out of the keyboard thinking about rules. LOL If there are rules about poetry I bet I break them every time.
ReplyDeleteLate but here.
ReplyDeleteI'm here. Hard to keep up with this site but I'm running behind the bus waving. :) http://judyidliketosay.blogspot.com/2013/01/breaker-of-rules-im-not.html
