Write about stripes.
There are many stripes in our worlds--military stripes, jailhouse stripes, stars and stripes, striped shirts and striped pants, crosswalk stripes, tiger or zebra stripes, racing stripes to name just a few.
They can be all colors and sizes, wide or narrow and made of most anything. They can be accidental or intentional.
Stripes can be used in a metaphorical or symbolic sense as well-- as in people of different stripes.
So this week think about stripes and see where this word takes you.

What an interesting prompt, Peggy! I have shared mine, and I look forward to seeing what other people come up with this week.
ReplyDeleteGreat prompt, Peggy! I asked my kids to tell me what the first word that came to mind was when I said stripes. The 9-yr-old said zebra, the 11-yr-old said stars, and the 13-yr old said stripes, to which I said she had to think of a word that goes with it, to which she again said, stripes... it was over breakfast. Haha. I went with something else.
ReplyDeletenice...on the surface a simple prompt but that means it can go anywhere...you'll have mine in the morning....
ReplyDeleteI'm in - good prompt ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow some of you have already posted! I have spent my evening with the software support person online removing a nasty virus from my computer. I hope it is all fixed now. If any of you got weird e-mail messages from me don't open them! This is my test message posting to make sure that part of my computer is working!
ReplyDeleteMy computer has just been to the hospital as well for viruses Peggy. Still not right. Will take back tomorrow.I'm going to write a poem about hackers soon Grrrrr!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a fun challenge this week, Peggy! Stripes - so generous an image to play with!
ReplyDeleteHi, Enjoyed the challenge, sorry i didn't comment when posting the link, but the computer i was working on went down and i could not back on line. I seemed to have offended someone, but it was really unintentional, thank you for the chance to write, Alan
ReplyDeleteAlan, I still don't know if you understand. Can you not also visit other people's poems and comment in their blogs? In the same way as you enjoy having your poem commented on, others appreciate the same. Everyone enjoys visits.
Deleteyep...thanks to laurie, mary, helen, firefly and anthony...
Deleteits not hard to see who does and doesnt, i say just dont visit them...we do have to educate newbies but once people have been around long enough...eh, what can you do...
I see Peggy commented on yours too, even though she hasn't written her poem. Ya, this site especially is not such a large site that people who post cannot make an easy run through a time or two.
Deleterae's link is not working again...
ReplyDeleteI fixed Rae's link.
DeleteI finally got mine written--more challenging than I expected. I think I have been kind of undone by having to deal with my computer virus. I have enjoyed all the stripes people have written about.
ReplyDeleteI meant to tell you, Peggy... I love your pics!
DeleteThis prompt actually panned out to be far more fruitful than I at first thought it would. Thanks for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not altogether sure about my creation but it's a first attempt at a discussion about stripes. looking forward to visiting yours in a little bit
ReplyDeletestill waiting...smiles.
DeleteMe too!
DeleteThanks for the prompt poetry jam - kept me occupied for a good long while on this one :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your participation this week. Lots of creative takes on stripes and lots of inspiration.
ReplyDeletePaige asked what the boy with the hat photo had to do with stripes so I thought I would tell you why I included it. First, he has a stripe down the center of his hat and, second, and I also thought his look might be saying something like "I'm a different stripe from you!" Sort of a stretch but oh well. LOL
ReplyDeleteLate to the challenge, but I squeezed under the wire. Thank you, I love Poetry Jam!
